Joe's Bourbon Java

Joe's Bourbon Java

I so enjoy a cup of coffee after a bold dinner, but then I also enjoy a pour of bourbon.  With either, it is time to sit back, relax and enjoy time with my guests.

Since I enjoy both and hate to make decisions about which to enjoy, I finally decided to create an after dinner coffee drink including bourbon.  Well, I should actually give inspirational credit to my buddy, Joe, who would drink bourbon in just about anything as long as you do not mix his Pappy Van Winkle.

The recipe below serves one.  However, if you know you will have a crowd of guests who want this coffee after dinner, simply create a batch of the caramel mix by using 1 cup of the Baltic Sea Amber Caramel Sauce and 1 cup of heavy cream.  When ready to serve, simply warm the caramel mix in the microwave prior to adding to a cup of coffee and top with the bourbon, then stir and serve.

The whipped cream is optional as a finish.  The drink is creamy without it but is based on personal preference.

A Four Roses Single Barrel is an excellent choice for the bourbon in this drink.  The proof is high enough for the bourbon to come through the sweet caramel flavor.

In a small bowl mix together the caramel and cream. In a microwave safe measuring cup, mix the coffee and the bourbon. Heat the cream mix in microwave for 10 seconds intervals until well blended. Heat the coffee mix in microwave for 20 seconds.
